About Rolando Lavarro

Rolando Lavarro is a lifelong Jersey City resident. As the son of immigrants, Rolando shattered the glass ceiling when he was elected to the City Council as Jersey City’s first Asian American council member.

Rolando is a proven progressive leader. He enacted legislation requiring a living wage for workers, the expansion of earned sick days, wage theft protection, a smoking ban in city parks, common sense cannabis protections, No-Knock registry, and the state’s first immigrant affairs commission, and more.

Prior to serving in City Council, Rolando served as Director of Constituent Services to former Assemblyman Bob Gordon, and as Aide to Jersey City Ward B Councilwoman Mary Donelly.

To this day, Rolando lives in the Greenville/West Side of Jersey City, with his wife of seventeen years, and his daughter who is now in Middle School in Jersey City’s public schools.

Councilman At-Large Rolando Lavarro is fighting for the voiceless, underrepresented, and most vulnerable in our City. Elect a councilperson who only answers to the people of Jersey City.

Vote 9B, Rolando Lavarro for Council-At-Large.
